Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention & Control Policy For Aromatherapy Massage Llanberis at Elaine’s Hair and Beauty Salon, Llanrug.

All of us have been affected by the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic and have had to adjust to many changes to keep ourselves and others safe. It has been a difficult time and often has taken a toll on both our physical and mental health.

We have missed being able to offer you the treatments that we know you love and we are looking forward to seeing you again soon.

Our priority is to keep you as safe as possible and prior to re-opening the salon we have implemented a number of changes which we would like to make you aware of. During the time the salon has been shut, I have completed the Coronavirus (COVID-19) Infection Prevention and Control course which is accredited by the Guild of professional Beauty Therapists Ltd (which also covers The Guild of Holistic Therapists), the UK trade body for our industry. We have since made a number of changes in the way that we operate that you will notice when you next visit.

Booking Appointments

If any of our staff feel ill or have symptoms of C0VlD-19, or have come into contact with anyone who has covid-19 they will self-isolate immediately and not come into the salon. This may mean that we have to cancel your appointment at short notice. We appreciate that this may be inconvenient, but it is done entirely for your own safety. If your appointment is cancelled you will be able to re-book again or ask for a full refund via bank transfer.

If you or any of the people you live with feel ill or display any symptoms of C0VlD-19 – please advise us as soon as possible and DO NOT COME TO THE SALON FOR YOUR APPOINTMENT.

You will be required to answer a pre- screening covid-19 specific questionnaire over the phone prior to your appointment. Also you will be asked to take your temperature the morning of your treatment, and if it is raised you must stay at home and contact NHS 111 if you are worried about your symptoms. You must sign the pre- screening questionnaire when you arrive for your treatment. This will include a declaration that you have taken your temperature that morning and that it is within the normal range. Please bring your own pen to reduce risks of cross contamination.

The pre- screening questionnaire will include the following questions:

  • Do you have a new continuous cough and/or high temperature?
  • Do you have a loss or change to your sense of smell or taste?
  • Have you been around anyone who has had the above symptoms within the past 14 days?
  • Do you live with anyone who is currently sick or is quarantined?

If you have answered YES to any of these questions you must stay at home and self isolate follow the current NHS government guidelines. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/self-isolation-and-treatment/

Also book a free Covid-19 test the test if you are experiencing any of the above symptoms. Do not wait as you need to get the test done in the first 5 days of having symptoms. https://www.nhs.uk/conditions/coronavirus-covid-19/testing-and-tracing/get-a-test-to-check-if-you-have-coronavirus/

  • Have you had Covid-19? If yes, seek permission from GP or consultant before treatment.

You will be asked whether you are classed as a clinically extremely vulnerable person (high risk), and require shielding? You should have had a letter from the NHS if you are. If so we will defer treatments until the government indicates that it is safe for you to have non-essential care that involves prolonged close contact.

You will also be asked if you are classed as clinically vulnerable (moderate risk), in which case would not have had a letter from the NHS. Examples of people in this category are those who are pregnant, or over 70, or have a lung condition that is not severe or have heart disease. If you are unsure if you are classed as clinically vulnerable please refer to the NHS website. As from the 13th August those in the clinically vulnerable category have been advised that they can stop shielding and can visit shops and pubs and so on, but to exercise caution by wearing masks where possible and socially distancing and washing hands regularly to minimise risks. We are now offering massage to those in the clinically vulnerable category and will do everything we can to minimise the risks of infection.

When booking a Pregnancy massage you must have consent from your midwife prior to the massage. Pregnancy massages are done in a side lying position with the client facing away from the therapist. clients are asked to wear a 3 ply face mask and the therapist  will wear a type 2 face mask and a plastic visor. please see other safety measures in the section below labelled ‘visiting the salon’.

You will be asked if you are happy for us to pass on your current contact details (and the time and date of arrival and departure to the salon) to the NHS Wales Trace Test Protect contact tracing service should you or anyone you may have come into contact with whilst at the salon test positive for Covid -19. This would be hugely beneficial to help prevent the spread of the virus. Your details would be locked away securely and only accessed by myself or the salon Manager in my absence should the need arise. These details would only be kept available for this purpose for 21 days after which it will be securely disposed of. This covers the typical maximum 14 day incubation period of the virus and an initial 7 days during which people may be infectious after symptom onset.

We have amended our booking terms and conditions and you will not be charged for any appointments which you miss due to illness/ other and will receive a full refund.

Visiting the Salon

For your safety and to maintain social distancing, we ask that you attend your appointments as close to the appointment time as possible. Please do not turn up early for appointments as this may mean that you come into contact with other clients who are just leaving. Please wait in your car until you receive a text to come in, or a member of staff comes out to greet you. Please leave coats and bulky items in the car, as you will be given a bin liner to put your belongings in during your treatment. Thank you.

We have increased the frequency of cleaning in the salon including making sure that common high touch surfaces, such as toilets and door handles are wiped clean using disinfectant products hourly or more frequently during busy times.
